Scott Harrington was on the receiving end of a nasty Brad Marchand punch to the back of the head on Tuesday night, but he was far from the first player to fall victim to the 30-year-old’s antics.
Tomas Plekanec played his share of games against the Bruins during his time as a Hab and witnessed first-hand just how outrageous Marchand’s actions could get on the ice. In fact, he even fell victim a few times. The turtle-necked wonder was reminded of a particular incident after witnessing last night’s events and made sure to remind everyone on social media about it with a tweet of his own. Let’s flash back to Game 7 of a second round Eastern Conference series between the Bruins and Habs, when Plekanec took a nasty shot from Marchand to the face in the faceoff circle.
This looks awfully familiar…
There’s no way the Czech native could have possibly prepared himself for that one!
Marchand wasn’t apologetic then and he certainly isn’t apologetic this time around either. While he acknowledged that the play was “unnecessary,” he said that he’s simply just playing “playoff hockey.”
You can also tell that to the $300 stick you broke, Brad.
Surprisingly, Marchand escaped without any discipline from the league. The guy got away scotch free without even going to the sin bin!
Players need to learn from Tomas and Scott to be EXTRA careful around the league’s best, and worst trash talker.
