With more Super Bowl rings than one hand can wear, NFL legendary quarterback Tom Brady pretty much gets what he wants. It’s Tom’s world, and we’re all living in it.

However, it is not “Tom Terrific’s” world.

After applying to officially trademark “Tom Terrific” as his own back in June, Brady got the bad news today that he would not be able to call the name his own. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office got back to the New England Patriots pivot explaining that the name compromised the former nickname of Tom Seaver. In considering the two nicknames, it was deemed Brady’s application was too similar and could possibly lead to confusion, and it was therefore denied.

Yikes. There was some initial negative reaction when Brady first applied for the nickname, but he stuck with it anyway. Unfortunately for the GOAT, it didn’t work out in the end.
