Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the game, but when people think of the five-time Super Bowl champion they don’t think of his running game.
Over the course of his 19-year career, the four-time Super Bowl MVP has run the ball himself 579 times for a total of 1,000 career rushing yards. This past weekend, the 41-year-old rushed two times for a total of five yards to hit the 1,000-yard plateau and he joked about his recent accomplishment on Monday afternoon.
No, Brady is not calling it a career now that he’s hit 1,000 rushing yards in his career, but he did have some fun with the whole thing considering his running game has never been talked about.
You might think that Brady doesn’t care about hitting the 1,000 yards mark on the ground, but he does. During the Patriots’ recent victory over the Minnesota Vikings, the three-time NFL MVP took a knee forward instead of backwards to make sure he didn’t go back down to 999 career rushing yards.
This season, Brady has run the ball 22 times for 32 yards and two touchdowns, so you can see why he didn’t want to have to work to earn that yard back on a later date.
