Tom Brady almost changed his jersey number after joining the Buccaneers

This sounds like a very Tom Brady thing for Tom Brady to do.

At this point, there is no argument that Tom Brady is regarded as one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game of football. He left the New England Patriots after spending 20 seasons with the franchise and nearly everyone wrote him off.

As we all know, Tom Brady reps number 12, but he was THIS close to switching to number 7... to represent seven rings. He currently has six and had THAT much faith in himself that he was going to change the number he has worn for 20 seasons. The number 12 was also already taken by Chris Godwin who graciously gave it up.

Bucs GM, Jason Licht, revealed in an interview on the Peter King Podcast saying Brady was fine with letting Chris Godwin keep the number 12 because he had a new number in mind.

Some probably would have called him crazy but despite many people's disbelief in his switch, he's ONLY ONE GAME AWAY - he successfully brought the Buccaneers to the Super Bowl in his first year with the team.

Now fans are saying he could live up to his current jersey number and go for 12!
