Two years ago today the hockey world was shocked by the unveiling of the Philadelphia Flyers new mascot, Gritty. His googily eyes, orange fur and surprisingly mobile waistline made him a phenomenon you couldn’t take your eyes off.
Sure he was odd looking, but he would do what all mascots do, kiss some babies, take a few pictures right? WRONG. Gritty has been one of the most electrifying mascots in all of sports with his wild antics so we thought we’d take a look at some of the best ones.
First up are his smooth dance moves, Gritty loves to shake that big round belly whenever he gets the chance but this clip of him attempting to do the dirty dancing lift is just magnificent.
Next on the list is the time he decided to run freely at the NHL Stadium Series showing off his unsually big and blue belly button.
He even made an appearance at the NHL playoffs in Toronto by letting opponents know he was watching their every move.
Gritty has even done some good in the world by running a 5k virtual marathon for charity!
On his birthday our good pal Gritty is asking fans to roast him live on Instagram and Twitter at 7 PM and you best believe we will be there for all the action.
