The John Tavares decision will, hopefully, soon be over with.
Will he stay loyal and return to Long Island? Does he come home to Toronto and form one of the deepest crops of centres in the league with Auston Matthews and Nazem Kadri? Or will JT surprise us all and go play for a more experienced club in either the Tampa Bay Lightning or San Jose Sharks?
Not often do you get a superstar free agent of Tavares’ calibre that hits the open market. As TSN’s Frank Seravalli pointed out, Scott Niedermeyer was the last true superstar to leave the team that drafted him when he signed on with the Anaheim Ducks after spending the majority of his career with the New Jersey Devils.
So, it should come to no surprise that Tavares is generating this much attention from the Canadian media on where he’ll sign, especially sign a Canadian team is rumoured to be in the mix.
With Tavares-watch in full swing, Jay and Dan have a public service announcment for anyone that’s sick of the saga and would just like it come to an end.
Just wait till the Erik Karlsson rumours start up again.
