Tebow-Time may seem like a phase in the distant past, but it’s not like it can’t flare up at any moment. After leaving the NFL with the hopes of pursuing a career in professional baseball, Tim Tebow has made some waves in the New York Mets minor league system. A lot of it is just because he’s a known name, but he’s flashed some undeniable talent that has even left Mets president Sandy Alderson stating that he believes Tebow has the major leagues in his future.
Well, the Double-A All-Star game is certainly a good place to show off a little, and Tebow did just that in his first at-bat of the game when he sliced a double to the opposite field, reaching the wall along the third baseline.
The lovable outfielder has managed to raise a few eyebrows while ignoring all the eye-rolls in his time in the system. People seem to genuinely be rooting for the guy as he continues to shrug off haters and keep doing his thing. His humble-by-nature attitude certainly helps him become someone to cheer for, even if some will argue that he’s more of a publicity stunt than a qualified player.
He holds a .270 batting average, and his five homers aren’t anything to write home about, but his dedication and relative consistency are hard to ignore considering he would absolutely fill the seats at Citi Field.
While the double was impressive, it would be his only hit of the afternoon. He finished 1-4.
