Tape Jobs are such a personal thing for hockey players. Some prefer black tape, some prefer white tape. Heck, some even prefer flame tape! Some prefer taping the the toe while other are more keen on keeping it bare. And then there are those random players who are insistent on spicing things up to the point where what they’re doing doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.
In comes star German forward Tim Stützle.
The 2020 number three overall pick made his tournament debut for Germany on Boxing Day and although the 16-1 loss was forgettable, his twig job on national television certainly wasn’t. Our very own Ray Ferraro broke it down and as you’re about to see… it’s a weird one. A really, really, really weird one.
Look familiar?!
Let’s break this one down for a moment. We get the tape on the end of the blade but as for the rest of it… why leave nothing on it? And what on earth is the point of having a piece of tape down the middle that doesn’t even touch the bottom? Regardless, it’s pretty tough to argue given his offensive prowess. Why is it that some of the most skilled players in the world also use the weirdest twig jobs?!?!
Keep an eye out for this one throughout the tournament, and let us know if you can spot any others @BarDown!
