The NHL is going to feel different this year with it being a shortened season and it starting in January, and there’s plenty of faces in new places this season.
One of the players who will have a change of scenery this year is Thomas Greiss, who joined the Detroit Red Wings on a two-year deal in the offseason. On Thursday, the 2019 William M. Jennings Trophy winner shared photos of his first Red Wings-themed mask and it features a tribute to the greatest goalie in franchise history.
Greiss has a tribute to Terry Sawchuk dead centre on his mask, while the back of the mask shows some love to his German heritage and the Autism Awareness sticker he’s rocked on his mask since his days with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
It’s also pretty great that he kept the Yeti theme on his new mask, while also showcasing his new team. He also shared a photo of his new set-up, and it's pretty sharp.
