Thomas Chabot will be feeling all kinds of sore on Wednesday morning.

The 22-year-old carried the load for the Senators on Tuesday night, logging an absurd 37:50 minutes of ice time in Ottawa’s 4-3 overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. The TOI marked the second highest regular season total in NHL history behind Denis Wideman’s 38:05 back on January 18, 2014, when players were ejected in the infamous Flames/Canucks opening faceoff brawl. All six of Ottawa’s D were healthy during the game, though Dylan DeMelo and Nikita Zaitsev were sidelined with injuries.

Imagine the amount of calories he must’ve burned!

Chabot finished the contest with zero points, four shots on goals and a +/- minus one on the evening. The Sainte-Marie, Quebec native is averaging 25:32 of ice on the season and has 21 points through 35 contests.

After dishing him an eight-year, $64 million deal, it’s clear the Sens are all-in on their young defender. Chabot turns 23 in January.
