With one spot in the gold medal game already secured by the United States, Finland and Switzerland are set to face off for the right to be their opponent.
Before the game, however, Swiss captain Nando Eggenberger took a minute out of his warm-up to snap a photo with a fan — and how could he not? This guy had the perfect sign for Mr. Eggenberger.
Eggenberger. Egg and burger. What a beauty! (We’ll just add, too, that the Swiss have a defenceman named Gianluca Burger on their World Juniors roster. These guys are rolling out an entire fast food restaurant.)
As one of the primary underdogs in the tournament, Switzerland has become the tournament’s most popular bandwagon — and it sure helps that they have one of the most personable coaches around, Montreal native Christian Wohlwend. With Canada already eliminated from this year’s tournament and the Swiss still alive, Wohlwend attributed it to “the hockey spirits.”
