For a hockey goalie, nothing is more important than seeing the puck. In that regard, the goalie helmet you’re about to see makes a lot of sense. In most other ways, it is terrifying.

A lot of hockey players switch to visors once they go beyond the restrictions of minor hockey for extra visibility. People that continue to use a cage will tell you that they don’t really notice the bars in front of their face, but when switching back and forth between the two, there is an obvious difference in visibility.

Still, we’re not sure it’s a path that any goalie should ever go down… but that didn’t stop someone from making a concept.

And then we found out that that’s a real thing already.

Now, you might be saying that is a terrible idea to wear in a hockey game, because it’s going to get shattered the first time a puck makes direct contact. We agree, just look at what happens to a players’ visor when a puck hits it.

Luckily, these are just for floor hockey. If you’re playing with a little orange ball, it’s much less likely to break and this actually would be awesome to have some extra visibility in those games. Sorry ice hockey goalies, you’re still going to have to go with the regular cage until somebody finds a way to make something safe enough to use as some kind of visor.
