That Zdeno Chara guy is an absolute MONSTER.
Big Z always stands out on the ice, even when matched up against a player who’s 6’3 or 6’4. But his height is REALLY noticeable when he gets matched up against one of the NHL’s smallest players. This time around he was caught battling against Columbus Blue Jackets forward Nathan Gerbe, and it made him look like the Iron Giant. In fact, it doesn’t even look like he knows Gerbe is even with him in this photo…
6’9, 250 lbs vs. 5’4, 176… wow... and not the first time they've squared up either!
Gerbe wasn’t Chara’s first victim. The 42-year-old posed for a photo last season with 5’6 Nashville Predators forward Rocco Grimaldi and looked like an absolute Evergreen Tree standing beside him.

Gerbe finished the game with an assist in the Jackets’ 3-0 win, and now has a nice (not-so-little) souvenir to hang up in his place now. Not a bad night!
