Remember how cool it was to be the kid with the backyard hockey rink? Maybe even if you were the one that had street hockey goalie pads? Maybe you had an extra mini stick?
The point is, it’s always great to have those cool hockey elements at home as a kid. Rinks, pads, and mini sticks may have been cool mback in the day (and still are), but lately we’ve seen a serious stepping up of the game. None more so than the latest hockey basement that Facebook user Amanda Rae Thompson and Instagram user Greg Thompson posted.
Featuring a hockey net, simulated boards, a full-on arena-style scoreboard, and a Calgary Flames flag, this hockey basement takes the cake.
The scoreboard even comes with multiple flat screen TVs to make it more than just a constructed prop. Saying that, it doesn’t appear that the time, score, shot counter, or other scoreboard features actually change.
Given the Flames flag posted overtop of the net, it’s unsurprising that the apparently permanent score shows the Flames beating arch-nemesis and Battle of Alberta combatant Edmonton Oilers 3-1 in the 2nd period. The Flames are also outshooting the Oilers 24-12 in the imaginary, apparently-lopsided hockey game.
While it may seem like a basement that will be dominated by youngsters, there is also a portion saved for the parents. Alongside the hockey area there is a bar section where the parents can enjoy a cold one while watching their kids live out dreams on the ice.
We’ll let the unchanging score slide, because this mini simulated rink is possibly the coolest hockey basement we’ve ever seen.
