It’s All-Star Weekend, which means it’s time to reflect on All-Star Weekends of years past. Most of that is remembering heroics, such a Vince Carter’s epic 2000 Dunk Contest, Kobe Bryant’s final ASG in Toronto, or any number of the game’s best showcasing their stuff.
Of course it’s not all positive, and recent All-Star Weekends have not been kind to Orlando Magic dunker Aaron Gordon.
Gordon has been a main subject in not one, but TWO of the greatest head-to-head dunk spectacles the league has ever seen. The first one he lost to Zach LaVine, one in which many basketball fans believe he was robbed. The second one he lost to Dennis Smith Jr., and the robbery shouts were louder than ever.
And that shouting was directed at Dwyane Wade, who infamously gave Gordon a 9 for his dunk over Tacko Fall, one that many believe was due to his Miami Heat bias.
