In basketball more so than any other sport, having a superstar usually leads to a lot of success. Before this year, LeBron James' teams had been in the NBA Finals for eight-straight seasons.
James is the most obvious example of star success in the NBA, but he isn't the only example. In fact, this stat went viral after Toronto's win to advance to the NBA Finals highlights two other stars in that conversation.
The first Leonard appearance might have been more due to the greatness of that Spurs as a whole, but he was named Finals MVP in 2014. As for Stephen Curry, he makes the Warriors go and we've seen that with Kevin Durant out during these playoffs.
Of course, you could add KD to the conversation as well if you really wanted to, as well as Danny Green for kicks and giggles.
The point is, stars rule the NBA and if KD/Kawhi both leave in the summer, it'll be interesting to see if this streak continues or if someone else will force their way into the conversation.
