If there’s anything we know about Sidney Crosby, other than the fact that he’s one of the best hockey players to ever do the dang thing, it’s that he’s also an exceptionally good person.
Crosby’s Little Penguins Learn to Play Program has been in effect since 2008, and since then, it’s outfitted over 12,000 aged four to nine kids in the area with full hockey equipment and instruction.
A part of that ‘full equipment bit includes Sid’s iconic number 87 jersey, so of course, they all grow up die-hard Crosby fans.
He’s a pretty tough guy not to love, even without an incentive like this one.
This season, the Johnstown Warriors Cambria Youth Hockey Program iced its first ever all girls hockey team. Though the 12U team is actually called the Warriors, but they all themselves something else.

Turns out, every single one of the 17 girls on the roster learned to play at Crosby’s Little Penguins.
This last Thursday, the Warriors’ coach, Sheri Hudspeth, fooled the team into thinking they were boarding a bus to a road game.
In reality, they were heading to the PPG Paints Arena to watch the Penguins play the Ducks.
As you can see, they were pretty excited.
According to the Pens’ website, Sid had this to say of the team:
"I think that's really cool. That's what it's all about. It doesn't always work out that way, but the fact that they made a team and are all continuing to play is great. My sister Taylor grew up playing hockey, and sometimes growing up, we had girls on our team. The fact that there's enough girls to make a full team tells you that girls' hockey is doing pretty well. It's great to see."
We imagine they’re not the first to lace 'em up because Sid did, and this is a great testament to his contributions in hockey.
