Sports fans in Greece just come different. In particular, they have a reputation for their fondness of pyrotechnics. Whenever their teams win, things tend to get lit in a hurry. (Literally!)

So, when PAOK won their first league title in Greece to end a 34-year drought, there were some incredible scenes. Seriously. Words can’t do it justice. It looked as if the stadium was set on fire, but nope, it was just the fandom going off.

That’s wild. For a North American audience, this might seem over the top, but this is just how they do sports over in Greece. The celebrations lasted long into the night in the city of Thessaloniki, that’s for sure.
