It’s finally time for one of the most glamourous nights in sports, and there’s an NHL playoff game up for a big award!
The 2021 ESPYs, which will be hosted by actor and producer Anthony Mackie, are locked and loaded for tonight at 8:00 PM ET, and there’s some serious star power on the list of nominees.
Naomi Osaka, DeAndre Hopkins, Gronk, Sarah Fuller, Jalen, Paige Bueckers, Amanda Nunes, Chloe Kim, and more will all be in attendance, and NHL’s own Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers are also up for a prestigious award.
The Jets and Oilers are up for the Best Game ESPY, and though the Oilers are definitely trying to forget this one, they might be reminded of it tonight. The thrilling, triple OT culmination of the Jets’ first round sweep of Connor McDavid’s Edmonton Oilers is up against some serious competition for the award, and remembering how fun this contest was isn’t helping our hockey hangover at all.
Good news for McDavid even though he’s nominated for a game he’s lost? He’s also up for another, more positive ESPY!
McDavid has the honour of being nominated for the best athlete, men’s sports, and he’ll go up against Tom Brady, Nikola Jokić, and Lewis Hamilton for the honour. Not a bad group to be apart of, if you ask us!
