The Anaheim Ducks 9th overall selection in the 2019 NHL Draft, Travor Zegras, ruffled the feathers of many Canadian geese yesterday.
Okay, he didn’t ruffle any actual goose feathers, but he definitely raised some eyebrows with a bold statement before the USA’s showdown for Gold versus Canada. Despite Canada’s dominant path to the Gold medal game, Zegras said he wasn’t sure that Canada had seen any real test so far, and that the USA intended to be that test.
In short, Trevor Zegras can definitely talk the talk. The USA had all the reason in the world to be a little nervous about this game against Canada, but Zegras looked like a stone cold killer with nothing to fear when he was talking about the contest.
Spoiler alert: he can also definitely walk the walk.
Zegras had a hand in both of the two goals that made the score 2-0 for the USA, and anyone who thought he was cocky going into this one was pretty quiet after his massive showing and eventual Tournament MVP status.
His post game interview? Even more swagger.
Hats off to Zegras on an incredible tournament, and what will definitely be an incredible career.
