Although 94 points would be a fairly impressive output for any basketball team in the NCAA Tournament, the UConn women’s basketball team figured they would try to do better. Against 16-seed St. Francis on Saturday, the Huskies scored 94 points in the first half alone, finishing the game with a monster 140-52 win.

Safe to say, coach Geno Auriemma’s basketball dynasty continues to break new historical ground. The Huskies, undefeated on the season, smashed Division I records for points scored by any women’s team in a quarter (55) or half, as well as a women’s tournament record for points in a game.

The Huskies were led by Azura Stevens and Napheesa Collier, who scored 26 and 25 points respectively. Canadian guard Kia Nurse finished the game with a double-double of 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Off to play 9th-seeded Quinnipiac in their second-round game on Monday, the Huskies are considered favorites to win the the national title. They did, however, lose to Mississippi State in the Final Four last season, a loss that actually snapped a 111-game winning streak by UConn, so it can’t be said for certain that the Huskies will continue to steamroll their competition.

But, you know, that seems fairly likely for the most dominant team of any NCAA team sport right now.
