It’s that time of year! And no, we’re not talking about the holidays.
Forbes released its annual report on the value of every NHL franchise and this year’s list marked a new milestone. For the first time league history, we have a franchise that’s worth $2 billion (according to Forbes), and it’s not a Canadian team. As you might have guessed, the New York Rangers came in hot this year at two juicy bills. The Leafs are the second most valuable team at $1.8 billion, followed by the Montreal Canadiens at $1.6.
The Arizona Coyotes were valued as the league’s least expensive franchise at $400 million.
So some of you might be thinking to yourself… wait, weren’t the Leafs valued at $2 billion earlier this year? Yes, but that was announced by Sportico. Let’s remember that this list was made by Forbes.
