A couple of seasons ago it seemed like a no brainer that Joe Pavelski would suit up for his 1,000th NHL game in a San Jose Sharks jersey, but that all came to an end this past offseason when the 35-year-old joined the Dallas Stars on a 3-year deal.
On Friday, December 20, 2019, Pavelski suited up for his 1,000th career game in Florida. On Friday, January 3, 2020, the Dallas Stars honoured Pavelski with a pre-game ceremony in honour of his recent accomplishment and it included a special message from one of his former teammates.
The pre-game ceremony included an awesome video montage of highlights from Pavelski’s career and it was capped off with a video message from Joe Thornton, who was Pavs’ teammate from 2006-2019.
That wasn’t the only surprise waiting for Pavelski, as the NHL presented the three-time All-Star with a crystal plaque featuring all of his career accomplishments, and then the Stars players surprised their teammate and his family with a golf trip for four to Scotland, including airfare, hotel accommodations, and golf.
Pavelski entered his 1,005th career game on Friday night with 362 goals and 777 points.
