The Rock may be one of Hollywood’s highest paid actors, but that doesn’t mean he’s forgotten about his days playing football North of the border.
Johnson is in the process of filming his future film ‘Jungle Cruise’ and managed to catch a little CFL football while spending some time off set. It was during that time that the former WWE wrestler reflected on his time playing for BC Lions head coach Wally Buono in Calgary, and in fact, getting cut by him. There are no hard feelings at all, though, as Johnson insisted that sometimes things just don’t work out for a reason.
The 46-year-old actually put together an impressive football resume before ultimately calling it quits. Before heading to Canada, Johnson spent time at the University of Miami playing alongside Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp. From there he advanced to the Stampeders’ practice squad, where it all came to an end after he was released by the team.
It doesn’t take a genius to realize that Johnson getting cut was obviously the best thing to ever happen to his career. With a net worth estimated at $220 million, he’s worth more than most football players can even dream of.
There’s nothing like a good old inspirational speech from one of Hollywood’s biggest icons.
