With the Maple Leafs on the brink of elimination on Saturday night, fans can down in droves to watch the Leafs and Bruins clash from Boston live on the big screen at Maple Leaf Square just outside the ACC.
In what was one of the most nail-biting games in recent memory for Leafs fans, the Bruins reminded fans of the blue and white of Game 7 of the 2013 series when the Leafs blew a 4-1 lead.
But this time around, the Buds were able to hold off the B’s and took Game 5 by a score of 4-3.
The nervousness on the fans’ faces down at Maple Leaf Square were evident. But before the Bruins clawed their way back, people down at The Square were hootin’ and hollerin’ and and displayed their passionate allegiance to the blue and white throughout the game.
But not everyone down there was going bonkers. You may remember a couple referees showing up at The Sqaure for Game 3 of the series.
Well, they were back on Saturday night, and came equipped with props like whistles, towels, and Gatorade.
They even had to explain a few calls to fans that didn’t quite understand why the Bruins received eight powerplays in total.
Good on them for holding their ground. It ain’t easy being under the microscope of anxious and angry hockey fans trying to argue calls with all their peers asking the refs to justify their calls.
Hats off to these two. Dart Guy, you have been replaced.
Game 6 goes Monday night in Toronto.
