The Las Vegas Raiders used to play in Oakland where they were the host in one of the most vaunted stadiums the NFL has to offer. It was literally nicknamed the Black Hole.
While things didn’t work out in Oakland and the team has now moved to Vegas, the new stadium had a lot to live up to in terms of reputation. While it may not have the same level of fear that the Oakland stadium put forth, Allegiant Stadium is coming along and it actually looks super cool.
The dark exterior certainly matches the whole theme of the Raiders, and this stadium honestly has potential to adopt the nickname “Black Hole” based on the looks of it.
Saying that, the name was more than just colour identification. It was about the unforgiving fans inside.
