People around the world are mourning the victims of a mass shooting at a synagogue in Pittsburgh that left 11 dead on Saturday.
The Penguins will honour the victims by wearing special ‘Stronger Than Hate’ patches on their jerseys for Tuesday’s game against the New York Islanders. Each jersey will be signed after the game and put up for auction, with the proceeds going to benefit the victims of the shooting as well as their families.
As we’ve seen before, sports can play a powerful role in bringing communities together in the aftermath of a tragedy, and the Penguins will offer their symbolic as well as financial support to the victims.
Likewise, we saw the Steelers offer their own tribute, observing a moment of silence before their Sunday game.
