As Canadians, we’ll admit that we’re a little bit possessive about hockey.
We definitely know that we want the game to grow and we think everyone should know the magic that is a hockey game, but we kind of feel like it’s the cool, underrated, alternative, underground band of the major North American sports that we were fans of first.
Again, definitely weird, but it’s the most relatable way to describe how it feels.
In saying all this, we love to see our cute little underdog sport get love from major mainstream celebrities and athletes from other sports that are more popularized in the US. In the spirit of that, here are the most unexpected A-listers who have rocked a hockey tarp at one point or another.
*note, though there are a lot of noteworthy Canadians who’ve rocked jerseys, we won’t include them in this post because they BETTER BE reppin’ hockey.*
The Hadid sisters.
We know this sounds dramatic, but when the Gigi and Bella Hadid showed face at a New York Rangers game absolutely SERVING in hockey jerseys, it was truly a cultural shift. Seriously, who makes hockey jerseys look this stylish?

The Fenty Queen herself is a native of Barbados, and though there’s been a couple of players of Barbadian descent to play in the NHL we didn’t imagine it would be an overly popular sport in a place where you could play something like beach volleyball instead. Whatever the case, Rihanna rocking a Sens jersey will forever be iconic.
Kanye West
Kanye West is definitely one of Hollywood’s biggest fashion influences, so when he rocked a Red Wings jersey, which was probably a nod to Tupac, it upped their coolness factor by quite a bit.
Hailey Bieber
We know she’s married to one of the most famous Leaf fans of all, but it’s still pretty cool to see Hailey Bieber rocking a Maple Leafs tarp.
Margot Robbie
Robbie isn’t just one of hockey’s most famous fans, she’s definitely also one of the New York Rangers' most animated supporters, which we love.
