If you grew up playing sports, then there’s no doubt that you still feel a sense of nostalgic rain over you every now and then.

Truly, thinking back on the good ol’ days of when all that mattered was making sure you nailed your batting stance or got a goal every now and then!

Though one important detail lingers whenever we think back on our days playing youth sports…

The post-game snacks.

You’re lying to yourself if you won’t admit that getting snacks after running (or skating) around for an hour and a half was the best reward. Forget the trophy, just keep loading us up with all the snack and fruit you can!

So without further ado, here are the most elite post-game snacks.

Orange Slices

We mean, do we need to even say more? Getting a kid to eat their fruits or veggies may have been a heavy task for parents, but there’s no doubt in mind that when the orange slices were brought out after a game, they were gone in seconds.

10/10 for refreshing and 10/10 for taste.

The only downfall was that your gross hands were kind of all in your orange’s business, but nonetheless, a top-tier snack.

Granola Bars

After an intense game, granola bars (especially the ones with chocolate chips and marshmallows) seemingly felt like eating at prime dining.

Probably the most convenient snack on the list, granola bars had the ability to fill our stomachs and were the ultimate reward.

Kool-Aid Jammers

If you need a quick 0 to 100 pick me up after chasing around a soccer ball like it’s the FIFA World Cup, then you were always in luck with a postgame Kool-Aid Jammer. Whether it was cherry, blue raspberry, grape or you were the odd person to like the orange flavour, you instantly felt refreshed and energized after one of these bad boys.

Fruit Gummies

If you need a sugar rush then, oh baby, you are in store for a serious boost. Though not as refreshing as regular fruit, having fruit snacks after a game was one of the ultimate best treats.

What kid doesn’t love sugar and candy? Any red gummy was S-tier, while yellow and green flavours usually just threw you for a loop.

To this day, we could shamelessly crush an entire box. Back of the line kiddos!

Juice Box

This is completely different than a Kool-Aid Jammer and real ones know this! Whether it was apple, orange, or fruit punch, juice boxes seemed to be some sort of lifeline after a game, especially a baseball game.

Literally, look at Backyard Baseball. They literally had a juice box power up when you’re on the mound!

For legal reasons, we do not recommend using juice as a sticky foreign substance to help with pitching.

Honourable mention: Timbits

Any kid who grew up playing any sport in Canada definitely knew the excitement that followed after seeing a parent stroll up with a 24 pack (or two!) of assorted Timbits.

By no means were they the healthiest snack nor did they likely have any nutritional value, but they were just too good to pass up on when they made their way to the end of the bench. What's even better was when there would be leftovers for rounds two and three!

Though you better act quick or sour cream glaze and jelly-filled would be gone in seconds!
