If you're a Miami Marlins fan and you're fishing for some happy news, this isn't it.
12 games into the MLB season, the Marlins have seemingly already given their fans enough reasons to not show up to the ballpark. Sitting at 3-9 the Marlins are currently sitting in last place in the NL East, somewhere they're expected to stay throughout the entire season having shipped their best players out of town, including Giancarlo Stanton, Dee Gordon and Christian Yelich.
Wednesday, the fans responded to the team's poor start with their wallets, with the Marlins announcing a crowd of 6,150 people. No, that's not a typo.
Making matters all the more embarrassing for the team, their double-A affiliate, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, managed to attract a larger crowd for their home opener on the very same night, announcing a crowd of 6,960.
Having played against the Chicago Cubs, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Mets -- big market clubs that have performed well -- the Marlins have still only managed to average 12,641 fans per game, something that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season either.
