On February 4th, a group of dedicated individuals set out to make history. Their goal was to play the longest hockey game ever played, and to raise a heck of a lot of money in the process.
They succeeded on both fronts.
The game took place in Edmonton, Alberta, and it was in support of the Cure Cancer Foundation in support of life-saving research at the University of Alberta. It featured two teams, Team Hope and Team Cure, consisting of 40 players that isolated themselves for the event.
The game lasted 252 hours, and was conducted in frigid temperatures averaging out at -26 degrees Celsius. It included nearly 600 volunteer shifts, and, most importantly, raised $1.84 million for cancer research.
Incredible work by all those involved, congrats on setting the world record once again!
