The Tampa Bay Lightning won the Stanley Cup in an empty arena, so they wanted to make sure they could celebrate the banner raising ceremony with fans in attendance.

With teams around the league slowly starting to let select fans into the arena for games, the Lightning finally got to hold their banner raising ceremony on Saturday night as part of their “re-opening” to the season.

There’s no doubt that this is the first time in NHL history that a team is raising their championship banner to the rafters as late as their 26th game of the season, but it’s a choice that their fans definitely respect and appreciate.

While things still aren’t back to normal, they did a pretty good job making the pre-game ceremony as normal as possible.

Better late than never!
