Easily one of the best annual events in hockey south of the border, the Minnesota State High School Hockey Tournament came down to two teams, Edina and Eden Prairie, duking it out for the title in an overtime period.

It was an incredible game, and Eden Prairie had played well through the first two periods with a 1-0 lead on a 26-7 advantage in shots. Top-seeded Edina was finally able to net two in quick succession in the third, before Eden Prairie tied to go into overtime.

It came down to this, a great find on the centering pass to Peter Colby for the win, and then of course, an all-time celly with the team.

That makes it a sweep for Edina High School, after also winning the girls division in February (a three-peat for the team!). Of course, there’s nothing like watching the all-out joy of a team right after winning it all, and make no mistake, the Minnesota state championship is a huge platform for these kids.

While the tournament winner was an electric moment, one of the best parts of the tournament every year is the classic player introductions sequence, when the world gets a glimpse of some incredible hockey flow.
