The Toronto Maple Leafs are the Northern Division champs, but that’s not the only regular season accolade they can bring home this season.

It’s unlikely, but there’s a chance the Buds can still take home this year’s Presidents' trophy. TSN’s Frank Seravalli outlined what needs to happen and they’ll need some help from a few Western division teams in order for it to become a reality.

Vegas is set to take on the Sharks in San Jose on Wednesday night while the Avs will host the LA Kings on Wednesday and Thursday. The Leafs are set to visit the Sens on Wednesday before closing out their regular season against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday. With Winnipeg’s win on Tuesday, Toronto is officially set to host the Montreal Canadiens in the first round.

Leafs fans are probably hoping that the team does not in fact win the award. Only eight teams in NHL history have managed to capture both the Presidents' Trophy and Stanley Cup, the last time coming in 2013 when the Chicago Blackhawks captured the second of their dynasty.

The list includes:

2013 Chicago Blackhawks

2008 Detroit Red Wings

2002 Detroit Red Wings

2001 Colorado avalanche

1999 Dallas Stars

1994 New York Rangers

1989 Calgary Flames

1987 Edmonton Oilers

So Leafs fans, what do you want to happen? Let us know @BarDown!
