The Seattle Kraken defeated the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday to record their franchise first home win. With it, we got our first look at Climate Pledge Arena during a win, and it was raucous to say the least.
We also had a glimpse at another “first.” The post-home win Salmon Toss!
Following the victory over the Habs, the three stars of the game – Jamie Oleksiak, Brandon Tanev, and Philipp Grubauer – were given stuffed fish to toss over the glass and into the waiting hands of excited Kraken fans.
While other teams may throw souvenir pucks into the crowd, or possibly even a stick, Kraken fans are going home with something a little more novel than that!
While we assume this is a new tradition for the team, we’ll have to wait until their next home win to find that out for sure. They’ll have an opportunity Thursday night when they welcome the Minnesota Wild to town!
