When the Vegas Golden Knights came into the NHL, they wanted everyone to acknowledge them to the extreme. They were loud, flashy, and theatrical about their entrance into the league, and working the front lines of that was the social media team.
Their social media team came into the social sphere swinging for the fences. Obscure movie references, skits starring Knights players, and eccentric commentary during games is a few of the ways they made their presence felt, and in the end the Knights ended up charging to the Stanley Cup Final.
Perhaps trying to bang with the best of them, the Seattle Kraken social team also came into the NHL social sphere throwing haymakers. The intro video revealing the name and the logo looked like it could have been a scene from Pirates of the Carribean, but our favourite piece came from a mock group chat they (presumably) created.
Each team has a little personalization to their message, from Montreal and Detroit mentioning their Stanley Cups to Edmonton and Calgary having a touch of playful banter between them (before Edmonton promptly removes the Flames from the chat).
The only team that didn’t REALLY warmly welcome the Kraken was the Flyers who hit ‘em with a “K. Cool.”
Turns out that’s not how they really feel!
