The Carolina Hurricanes sure fooled us. On Thursday, team captain Justin Williams tweeted that the Storm Surge was coming to an end after that night’s game against the Washington Capitals. After a season of incredibly cellies for the home crowd at PNC Arena, the goal had been accomplished: There’s a buzz again in Carolina.

The Carolina #Hurricanes’ Storm Surge celebrations are coming to an end. . Thoughts?🤔

Yet, after Saturday’s win against the Flyers, there the Canes were, Storm Surging as they do.

Surprise! Sort of. Williams had kind of already hinted that the Storm Surge is ‘unpredictable,’ and considering how much fun this practice has been for the team and fans, did anyone ever really believe that they could resist going back to the well after another home win?

Still, the Hurricanes currently sitting inside of the playoff picture as the season winds down, and as the games are about to become even more important, the team promises that it’s of a one-focus mind going in.

So, like, are we going to see a Storm Surge in the playoffs, or nah?
