For hockey fans, there’s definitely no better way to propose than to include the good old hockey game.
This guy pulled off one of our favourite proposals yet, when he managed to snag not only what looks to be a fantastic fiancé, but also a puck from the Chicago Blackhawks ahead of their matchup against the Winnipeg Jets at the United Centre on Friday night.
In true hockey fan form, Hawks loyalist Andrew Dalbis told NHL.com that he hid the engagement ring inside his roller blades, which are kept on a high shelf that he knew his girlfriend, Chloe Sommer, wouldn’t check. Still, though, she had her suspicions, "he wanted to be there for warmups. We never get there for warmups," revealed Sommer.
The duo was sitting against the glass when Dalbis produced a sign that read “If I get a puck, I’ll propose”, but still lead his girlfriend to believe that he didn’t actually have a ring on him.
Cam Ward first attempted to flip the couple a puck, but was unsuccessful.
Then, forward Brendan Perlini, recently acquired from the Arizona Coyotes in the trade that also involved Dylan Strome and Nick Schmaltz, successfully managed to get the couple a puck over the glass.
Immediately, Dalbis proposed.
When asked if he had a backup plan if the puck didn’t end up coming, Dalbis said he was confident that it would.
"Well, we are going to the Winter Classic, but it was going to happen. I knew it was going to happen. I had the sign and I am pretty sure every player that skated by saw”.
Perlini was obviously happy to help, and expressed that he’d be expecting an invite to the upcoming wedding.
Sommer, who said her fiancé is the one responsible for getting her into hockey, plans to integrate hockey into their wedding.
"I am so going to have a Stanley Cup cake at my bridal shower and the cake topper at the wedding will definitely be us in Blackhawks jerseys, I already have my ideas on Pinterest."
Sounds like our kind of wedding.
