There are many storylines you could focus on when discussing the Toronto Raptors charge to the NBA Finals. From it being their first in franchise history, the Kawhi “He Stay-He Go” question that follows the Raps everywhere they go, or the individual stories of each of the players for example.
But no storyline has been quite as flashy, quite as loud, or quite as in your face as the Drake storyline.
The Toronto Raptors’ biggest cheerleader Drake can be seen at all home games during the postseason, cheering on the Toronto Raptors. He’s not sitting back and watch quietly, though. He’s in the face of the opponent, trying to find a place to live in their head. On many occasions, it seems like he finds it.
During Thursday’s Game 1, Drake was seen jawing with Warriors stars Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. The clip of Drake with Draymond is particularly dramatic, with the two up in each other’s face and Drake appearing to call Green “Trash” as the fiery Warrior walked away. Since then, there have been a number of clips deepening the saga. The most interesting so far came when Green took to his Instagram story to show off his sweater.
Killing ‘em with kindness? It certainly wouldn’t be what you expect to see Draymond wearing as he takes the streets of Toronto. He may be trying to flip the script on Drake, who appeared to succeed in getting to Green, or maybe he’s really just trying to downplay the drama.
We’re only one game into the series, folks. Buckle up.
