When it’s all said and done, Patrick Marleau will not only find himself in the Hockey Hall of Fame, but his number 12 will forever hang from the rafters at the SAP Center in San Jose.

And apparently it might also get the same treatment over in Carolina?

The 41-year-old broke the NHL’s all-time games record in Las Vegas on Monday night as a member of the Sharks, but let’s remember that Patty did in fact enjoy a cup of coffee with the Hurricanes. If you can recall, the Canes took on Marleau’s $6.25 million cap hit in exchange for a first round pick, but was eventually bought out so he could return to San Jose with his family. Well, his ‘old team’ wanted in on last night’s action and made sure to share the proper message with him ahead of the big game.

Canes LEGEND!!!! We can always rely on Carolina for some good social content. Speaking of social content… let’s take you to Toronto for a message from some of Patty’s former teammates…

What a league is right!

A huge congrats to Marleau from the Sharks, Leafs, Canes, and all of us here at BarDown. What an accomplishment!
