Well, that didn’t take long.

After the Sedins’ retirement from the NHL at the end of last season, the Vancouver Canucks have announced plans to retire their numbers in the 2019-20 season, which will be the Canucks’ 50th in the NHL.

This is no surprise, of course. The Sedins are beloved in Vancouver, and the announcement is only a formality. Were it not for the milestone 50th season next year, their jerseys may have even been retired this season. With the extended prep time, we’re sure that the occasion is going to be something special.

There’s little rush for Canucks fans, though. With the way that 19-year-old Swedish rookie Elias Pettersson has lit up the NHL to begin his career, why not enjoy the moment, right?
