Sports are nearly in full swing again, and though there’s no fans in the stands and things definitely feel different than usual, the world is starting to feel more and more normal every day.
With that in mind, it’s important that we don’t forget the important lessons about systemic racism and police brutality that we all should have taken the time to learn during the social unrest of the last few months.
While athletes are glad to be back to their almost-regular routines, they don’t want to take the focus off of the battle for equality and the dismantling of systemic racism.
While we saw this especially from the NBA, with the NFL season starting, some teams and players are also looking to make a statement.
The Buffalo Bills have added the names of victims of police brutality, as well as some important messaging to their helmets, in hopes to reinforce the importance of the Black Lives Matter movement.
