We’ve heard the noises, but now it looks like we can see the setup as well.

Last week, The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Evan Drellich reported the Astros stole signs during their 2017 season. Former ‘Stros pitcher Mike Fiers confirmed the report and former White Sox Pitcher Danny Farquhar recalled the team using a loud banging noise to inform batters of off-speed pitches. Now, it looks like there might be visual evidence of the accusations.

Rosenthal and Drellich’s article revealed the following:

The following in an Excerpt from The Athletic:

The Astros “used a camera in centre field to film opposing catchers that was hooked up to a monitor in the dugout at Minute Maid Park in the tunnel that runs between the dugout and clubhouse."

"When onlookers believed they had uncoded a sign, the pitch would be communicated via a loud noise, usually by banging on a trash can.”

Oddly enough, the evidence is right there in their 2017 World Series documentary. Take a look at these two videos…

The can is clearly there, and a towel appears to be hiding it. It looks like someone is taking down the setup in this photo of Jose Altuve.

If you haven’t seen/heard it yet, here’s a clip of Farquhar pitching against Evan Gattis in 2017.

The evidence just keeps on presenting itself. The MLB has launched an investigation so time will tell how the league handles the situation.
