Well, it’s that time of year hockey fans. We’re not talking about the playoffs… we’re talking about…
STREET HOCKEY SEASON, BABY!!!!
The time of year when the snow is melted, the streets are dry, and the air is nice and crisp. Yup, sounds like some pretty solid street hockey conditions to us! A lot of us can’t hit the rink right now but we can take our old worn down nets and stick them on our driveways for a little spring shinny. With the new season upon us, let’s take a look back at some of the best street hockey twigs from the past. Gear yourself up for some serious feelings of nostalgia… time for a little blast from the past you dusters
*We will only be including hockey sticks, not actual road hockey twigs*
KOHO REVOLUTION
Ohhhhh baby. The KOHO Revolution was pretty much made for the streets. Yes, we get that wooden blades crack easily but if it doesn’t, and you can dwindle that blade down to a nice thin one with time, then you’ve got yourself a winner. Not too heavy, not too light, but tough enough to handle the concrete. An all-time classic!
EASTON SYNERGY
The Easton Synergy was revolutionary (no pun intended) when it came out, as It really marked the first graphite stick available for players on the ice. Well, years went by and it eventually became a thing of the past, and by thing of the past we mean ultimate road hockey stick. If you had one of these for a game with your pals, you were lucky.
TITAN TPM 2020
Another classic. Teemu used a Titan in the early 90s and Gretzky before him, inspiring tons of kids to use it on the streets. They weren’t too expensive either so you didn’t have to worry about ruining them either. If you still have yours… hold onto it, they should be considered more of a collector’s item at this point.
MISSION M-1
Maybe I’m a little bias here, but the Mission M-1 was a tough stick that was great for dangling on the roads/on the driveway. Looking to fire a tennis ball dent in your garage? The M-1 is the right stick for you. Not too pricy either, and very durable. I’ve has mine for 18 years and It still works like a charm! 50 flex!
SHER-WOOD 5030 FEATHERLITE
Must I say more? The thing definitely wasn’t light, but it was elite for hacking shins. We’re not encouraging that behavior, but just saying. A classic.
Okay so we get this is just a very small list, so let u know @BarDown what your favourite street hockey sticks are. We’d love to hear what you have to say!
