Increasingly, considerations are being made for participant safety in sports, and while on the whole this is an undeniably good thing, some traditionalists may be nostalgic for the days in which sports could be determined by who hit the other guy harder.
No worries, because tennis player Damir Dzumhur absolutely laid out the truck stick on this young ball boy at the French Open.
After his (completely accidental!) collision with the kid, Dzumhur’s reaction is an awkward mix of horror, concern and total confusion. As awkward as that sounds, though, it was absolutely not any more awkward than the hugs he tried to give as the boy was helped off the court.
Good news: The boy is okay!
So, for sports fans looking to get their fix of that satisfying crunch of body colliding on body, the moral of the story is this: Tennis, not hockey or football, is the sport that will deliver. It is, apparently, the most physically demanding contact sport of them all.
