Scott Darling didn’t have the year he wanted to with the Carolina Hurricanes. In fact, Darling’s .889 save percentage was the worst he’s ever registered in his career.
But the 29-year-old Virginia native will have a chance to end the season on a positive note as one of the goaltenders for USA Hockey at the upcoming World Championships in Denmark. Darling was selected along with Devils back-up Keith Kinkaid, and Habs prospect Charlie Lindgren.
Darling and Kinkaid will be battling over the starter’s duties until one of them emerges, meaning both of them will have ordered a custom new set of goalie gear decked out in American colours.
While he haven’t seen Kinkaid’s new Vaughn pads, we do have some pictures of Darling’s new Brians set, which looks beautiful in the red, white and blue that’s littered with stars and stripes.
The Americans open up the tournament against the Canadians on Friday, and while no decision has been made on who will start for Team USA, we’ll surely be seeing these beautiful pads at some point over the next few weeks, even if they get a bunch of black puck marks all over them that takes away from their prettiness.
