Usually the way things work when it comes to jerseys at the Canada Games is that teams race to release them.
It's exciting to announce the to-be-worn jerseys and watch everyone react to them. Apparently Team Manitoba ringette wanted to capture that excitement at a time it mattered most - just as they took the ice.
Manitoba decided that instead of releasing the jerseys ahead of time, as is the norm, they would wait until game day to make their big reveal.
When Saturday rolled around, the team came strutting out onto the ice wearing their charcoal and gold coloured threads. According to team members Alana Lesperance and Kaylee Spearing, it made the unique jerseys that much more special.
The two then continued to explain the different features of the jersey, including the bison with a disguised "M". The bison has become a symbol of Manitoba, and as Kaylee explains, it finds its way onto many Manitoba provincial symbols.
So how does it feel to appear from the dressing room with all eyes on the highly-anticipated jerseys?
Apparently the buildup was worth the wait, Manitoba downed New Brunswick to capture their first win of the Games.
