When it comes to face protection in the NHL, we’ve basically become centralized around one look; the visor. While there are some grandfathered no-visors still kicking in the NHL, most players now have at least half their face protected to some extent.
As for the World Juniors, the debate is still hot!
There are basically two main looks to work with, the ‘bubble’ and the ‘cage.’ The bubble features a window-like shield that allows players to see clearly without metal bars interfering. The Cage, while having the metal bars, has nothing in the way of glare. Some players even simply like the feeling of air on their face as they skate.
Ahead of the 2022 World Junior Championship, Mark Masters was stoking the flames on an age-old debate, and Team Canada’s squad members had varying opinions on which style they preferred.
There you have it. Which style do you prefer?
