TCU is something of an underdog against No. 9 Oklahoma, which boasts Kyler Murray, the ninth overall pick from this year’s MLB draft (yes, MLB), at quarterback, but don’t say that to KaVontae Turpin.
This 99-yard punt return for a touchdown looks about as easy as such a thing can be, despite a well-placed kick deep into TCU territory. Whether through poor defensive routes or strong blocking (or more likely both), there was nobody left to challenge Turpin as he gassed through the middle.
Obviously, we can’t take anything away from Turpin himself, who appears to have jets for feet. Hard to take anything 99 yards without a bit of pep in the step.
He’s doing much better than Isaih Pacheco of Rutgers, who called for fair catch and then proceeded to... not catch the ball.
