The road to the NFL is not easy for everyone, you can be undrafted, get hurt and run into a myriad of obstacles before you get your chance. For Taylor Heinicke that NFL dream was seemingly dead a year ago.
Heinicke was playing in the XFL last year for the St Louis Battlehawks while also attending school to finish a degree.
Heinicke wasn’t even a starter either, HE WAS A BACKUP and threw 0 touchdowns. The Football Team in Washington had him as their 4th string QB starting the season with Kyle Allen, Dwayne Haskins and Alex Smith all ahead of him.
But with Haskins released a few weeks ago, Allen suffering a season dying injury and Smith being ruled as inactive Heinicke had his number called.
He only arrived in Washington on December 8th and had to postpone his college exams to get a chance to play in the NFL.
Heinicke is making highlight reel plays in his first NFL playoff start like this superman dive which will make him a folk legend.
Even teammate Chase Young was hyping him up.
This is a dream come true for him and we’re sure he’s enjoying the ride, who knows he might come back as THE GUY in the 2021 season.
